How to Start a Denim Brand: From Sketch to Bulk Production
A step-by-step guide to launching a custom denim line with a low-MOQ OEM/ODM factory partner.

From idea to first order
Starting a denim brand comes down to five stages: design, fabric selection, sampling, wash development, and bulk production. This guide walks through each with realistic timelines and MOQ expectations.
1. Lock your design
Provide sketches or reference photos. A good factory turns these into a tech pack.
2. Choose fabric & wash
11-14 OZ cotton is the workhorse; add 2% elastane for stretch fits.
3. Sampling
Plan for at least one sample round (often two) before bulk; your supplier will confirm the timeline for your style.
4. Bulk
A low per-style MOQ keeps early runs affordable — confirm the exact minimum with your supplier at quotation.
